The Lines

Which Lerenas are one family, which are not, and which nobody can yet say. Every line the archive holds is drawn here with where it begins, how far its papers reach and where it went; under it, every household and every person on none of them, counted; and after it, every join between them the archive has a verdict on.

Six lines, drawn side by side

A rare name is not a family. Five of these lines carry the name Lerena, and one does not: the Taylor line, which married into the direct one in 1911 and is drawn because this archive keeps it as a line of its own.

Three things are called a line in this archive, and this page is about the widest. The direct line is one man’s descent, from Pablo Armando Lerena to the living generation (The Spine). Connected to the line, in the register, means joined to that one man. A line of the name, here, is a family of Lerenas that the papers follow from a first document to a last — and the question this page exists to answer is whether any two of them are one family.

A lane has to have both ends. A beginning that is a document and a destination that is a document. What lies beyond a lane’s beginning is said under its title: origin inferred where the archive has a reason and no document, origin not found where it has neither. Where the archive knows a household is real but cannot say which line it belongs to, it goes below the rule rather than onto the nearest lane. The red line is drawn broken on purpose: Pablo Armando’s parents are named on an army card in 1908 and appear in no other record anywhere.

They are named as the parents on Pablo Armando's army enrolment card and appear in NO OTHER RECORD ANYWHERE - not in Rosario, not in Montevideo, not in the full-text corpus. Every lane above is a candidate and none has been shown to hold them. JUAN CARLOS LERENA and MARIA LERENA… The LARENA of Gualeguaychu — Entre Rios, 1837-1913 — The people in the register under the A-spelling at Gualeguaychu, in Entre Rios, the province across the Parana. THE SPELLING IS NOT THE PROBLEM - this archive has catalogued LERENA read as SERENA, LORENA, LESINA and six more. What is missing is any document joining them to a Uruguayan house. (The Larena of Cayasta, in Santa Fe, were drawn here with them until 27 October 2026; the archive's own correction says Cayasta was an Italian colony and its Larena not ours, so they are drawn with the different stock below.) The LARENA of Gualeguaychu — Entre… CARLOS LERENA of Mendoza — Mendoza, 1900-1904 — Married ADELA CAMIGLIA; a son AVELINO CARLOS born 1904. The forename AVELINO is the one that runs through Sancho's house , which is suggestive and is not evidence. Worked in September and not joined. CARLOS LERENA of Mendoza — Mendoza… The LERENA of Trinidad with no father named — Trinidad, Flores, 1895-1918 — CAYETANA FAUSTINA, whose son Luis was registered in 1895 with no father on the act; RODOLFO BERNARDO and ISMAEL, each a father who appears once. Real people on real acts, attached to nobody. The LERENA of Trinidad with no… BENITO LERENA and MARIA CRISTINA — San Eugenio, Artigas, Uruguay, 1899 — A Lerena household on the Brazilian border, found 12 October 2026 and not on any lane. Benito, b. about 1854, Oriental, a jornalero who could not sign his name; his wife Maria Cristina, b. about 1856, Brazilian, given no surname by the act; their daughter Anastasia LERENA, b. about 1877, married to the Brazilian soldier Honorio ALVAREZ. Artigas is a department this archive has never worked, and a family of the name sitting on the Brazil frontier with Brazilian-born children is a shape nothing here predicts. Found only because a LERENA father was asked against a SERENA mother - and the act turns out to say Lerena both times. BENITO LERENA and MARIA CRISTINA… PEDRO LERENA and JUANA CAMACHO — Jesus Maria and Mal Abrigo, San Jose, Uruguay, 1910 — An Italian-born Lerena in the department this archive rests an 1846 couple on. Pedro, b. about 1842 in Italy, a labrador; Juana Camacho, b. about 1853, Oriental; their daughter Ramona LERENA, b. about 1886, who registered a natural daughter Antonina at Mal Abrigo in September 1910 with the father's line left as se ignora. Kept here rather than on a lane, and kept as UNPLACED rather than as a namesake, because the honest position is that this archive cannot yet tell which stock he belongs to - which is itself the finding. /name/ separates an Italian Lerena/Lerina stock from this family; it has always been able to do that by country, and this act is the case where country does not decide. PEDRO LERENA and JUANA CAMACHO… LEANDRO LERENA and LUCIA LLANOS — Buenos Aires, 1895-1896 — THE HOUSEHOLD THIS ARCHIVE PUBLISHED AS A TRUE NULL, AND IT WAS NEVER ONE. Leandro, born about 1854-57 at SEGOVIA, an oil maker, literate; his wife Lucia Llanos; children Emilia (b. Spain c.1886), Francisco (b. La Plata c.1890), Paulina (b. 1895) and, on the baptism of San Cristobal on 20 December 1896, SALVADOR - the son whose army card spells the surname LORENA. Living at Calle Pichincha 929. A FOURTH SPANISH ARRIVAL beside the three the Spain lane already draws, and NOT SHOWN TO BE CONNECTED TO ANY OF THEM. Segovia is also outside the one Spanish cluster this archive can point to - La Rioja, at 39.6 times the national rate - which makes kinship with the Navarrete household less likely, not more. See /argentina/#s-leandro-llanos. LEANDRO LERENA and LUCIA LLANOS… GIL LERENA and ANASTASIA SANTA CRUZ — Trinidad and Pintos, Flores — A SECOND LERENA HOUSE AT TRINIDAD, AND NOT ALEJANDRO'S. Gil Lerena was at Trinidad in the 1840s-60s and died in 1883 at sixty-four; his sons were Faustino (1844-1866) and Fermin, whose children run on to Pintos. He is not placed: no act names his parents, and nothing ties him to Alejandro's brothers or to Sancho's sons. GIL LERENA and ANASTASIA SANTA CRUZ… MAURICIO LERENA and PETRONA AGUILAR — La Guardia, Trinidad, 1866 — A Mauricio Lerena with a wife Petrona Aguilar, godparents in February and March 1866 and the parents of Paula Gregoria, born 14 June 1866. He may be the Mauricio of Flores born about 1836, and he is not the Colla Mauricio, who had a wife Casimira. Not merged. MAURICIO LERENA and PETRONA AGUILAR… PEDRO ANTONIO LERENA and TERESA LEONARD — Montevideo, 1861-1901 — NOT THE PEDRO LERENA VEGA WHO DIED IN 1896: the 1864 christening of their daughter Manuela names his parents as Pedro and Maria Pereyra. His father could be Pedro Antonio, son of Sancho, only if that man married a second wife, Maria Pereyra, after Vicenta Vega - which nothing says. PEDRO ANTONIO LERENA and TERESA… GILBERTO LERENA, Argentine, born 1879 — landed at Buenos Aires, 1928 — An Argentine-national Lerena born within three years of Pablo Armando, travelling with a son Gilberto of twelve. What fits Gilberto LERENA Salvanach, the eldest son of the Stud Book Gilberto: a birth year one out, Argentine nationality, Buenos Aires, a marriage of 1906. DELIBERATELY NOT MERGED: both rows are index-level, and the Argentine military record or the CEMLA entry would settle it. People of the name with no family recorded here — on none of these lines· 84 people People of the name the register holds with no parent, child, spouse, brother or sister recorded here: arrivals off a ship, godparents, a name on oneact. In the acts but not of the name, and kin to nobody on a line· 26 people Godparents, witnesses, priests, judges and neighbours, kept in the register because an act of the family names them. They are not of the name and arenot kin to anybody on a line, so they are counted here and drawn on no lane. A different stock of the same name — kept apart on purpose· 7 kept apart · 8 people LERINA — Italy, arrived 1889 — Four people, arrived together in 1889 - Anna, Annunziata, Laurensa, Savina. An Italian name that is not a spelling of this one , kept in the register so that nobody has to discover them twice. (The register also holds two Italian arrivals written LERENA, Domenico in 1910 and Paolo in 1913, who are unplaced and not excluded.) LERINA — Italy, arrived 1889 LERENA of Arequipa — Peru, 1797-1825 — Felipa, Pedro and Isidoro Lerena in the parish marriages of Chuquibamba, Condesuyos. Found while searching the full-text corpus and recorded because a rare name in a far place is exactly what a careless session would merge. LERENA of Arequipa — Peru, 1797-1825 LERRENA — Colombia — One full-text hit in the Colombian Catholic records. Not pursued and not ours. LERRENA — Colombia The LERENA y LERENA of Navarrete — Logrono, Spain and Buenos Aires, 1900-1930 — A WHOLE HOUSEHOLD WHO CARRY THE NAME TWICE, and the most useful namesake on this page. ISABELA LERENA y BASARAN, widow, of Navarrete in La Rioja; her sons JOSE DOLORES, married and the propietario at home, and PRUDENCIO BENITO and JUAN JOSE, bachelors and shop-assistants in Buenos Aires, who in November 1900 signed a power of attorney at the Spanish consulate putting the Spanish property in their mother's hands. WHY IT IS DRAWN HERE AND NOT ON A LANE: they are Spanish subjects out of Logrono, and the first two lanes above are Banda Oriental stock documented from the 1790s; the other three begin at Rosario, in Spain and in Spain, and no connection is claimed between this household and any of them. WHY IT IS DRAWN AT ALL: Pablo Armando's enrolment card names a JUAN CARLOS LERENA and a MARIA LERENA, and the easiest way to dismiss that card is to call the repeated surname a clerk's slip. AND THEY ARE THE SIXTH SUCH COUPLE THIS ARCHIVE HAS MET, NOT THE FIRST - a correction to what was written here first. The two Trinidad couples of 1894 and 1913, the 1911 dispensation, Alejandro, and Eloy x Felisa Lerena at San Jose de Flores in 1912 all came before them. SO THE CARD'S DOUBLE SURNAME WAS NEVER IN REAL DOUBT, AND NAVARRETE DOES NOT RESCUE IT. What Navarrete adds is different and smaller: it is the FIRST SUCH HOUSEHOLD OUTSIDE SOUTH AMERICA , the FIRST WHERE THE CHILDREN CARRY IT DOUBLED AS A SURNAME OF RECORD - 'Lerena y Lerena', in their own signatures, not just a coincidence of two parents - and the FIRST TIME THE PRACTICE HAS A PLACE ON A MAP that can be searched. It does not make them his - no connection is claimed, and the CEMLA arrivals suggest a steady traffic of young Riojan Lerena men into Buenos Aires shops that has nothing to do with Rosario de Santa Fe in 1882. The LERENA y LERENA of Navarrete… LOLA LERENA — Isla Martin Garcia — Italian-born; the name is coincidental (the register's own words). LOLA LERENA — Isla Martin Garcia LARENA of Cayasta — Cayasta, Santa Fe — RETRACTED. Cayasta was an ITALIAN COLONY - the register there runs Laurini, Lauron, Castelarin, Masorini, Panluzzi, Gaetta, Salvaserra, and the same mother is transcribed two ways for two children. 'Larena' here is almost certainly an Italian surname mis-rendered, and the apparent cluster a transcription artefact. LARENA of Cayasta — Cayasta, Santa Fe A given name, not the surname — East London, South Africa — FALSE POSITIVE - 'Lerena' here is a given name, not the surname (the register's own words). A given name, not the surname — East… Names that look like this one and are kept apart on purpose: found while searching, recorded so that nobody has to discover them twice. No connectionis claimed between any of them and any line above.

Real households of the name — on none of these lines · 36 households · 89 people

Real, documented households of the name that this archive has read and not joined to any line above. They sit below the rule so that the picture cannot imply that everything has been placed. What would move one onto a line is a document that names its parents, or an act that ties it to a household already drawn.

People of the name with no family recorded here — on none of these lines · 84 people

People of the name the register holds with no parent, child, spouse, brother or sister recorded here: arrivals off a ship, godparents, a name on one act. Each is a real person on a real record; none is joined to anybody, so none is on a line.

In the acts but not of the name, and kin to nobody on a line · 26 people

Godparents, witnesses, priests, judges and neighbours, kept in the register because an act of the family names them. They are not of the name and are not kin to anybody on a line, so they are counted here and drawn on no lane.

A different stock of the same name — kept apart on purpose · 7 kept apart · 8 people

Click or tab any dot — the stops tell you what the document behind them says, and the destinations on the right tell their own story and link to it. Click a second time to go there.
Hover or tab any dot for what the document behind it says; a dot that names a person opens that person. The lanes are coloured only to tell them apart — no colour means kinship. A dotted curve across the lane heads is a candidate join, on evidence short of a document; the joins that rest on a document, and the ones the archive has refused, are in the table below the drawing, because a drawn line between two families would claim more than either kind says. The number under a lane is the people this archive has placed on it by the register’s own links who may be named; the full count, the named and the not-named, is in the table.

Where each line begins and how far back its papers reach, the places it can be put in with the year of each, where it went, and how many of the register’s people stand on it. The status words are the kit’s, the same in every archive: how far back the evidence reaches, not how interesting the line is.

Out of Canelones, into Montevideo

Rosario de Santa Fe, to the Cape
This is the line the archive exists for, and it is drawn broken on purpose. Both ends are documented and the middle is not: NO RECORD HAS EVER BEEN FOUND FOR HIS PARENTS, and no lane above has been shown to contain them.

Devon to the Cape: the Taylor line, by marriage
The line of Mary Septima Taylor, the wife of Pablo Armando. Drawn because this archive keeps it as a line of its own (/taylor/), and joined to the direct line by a marriage act, not by a guess; their children are counted on the direct line.

Every household on none of them

The households under the rule in the drawing, each with where its people are and the years their pages print. 18 are written up by this archive, in its own words; the rest are family groups the register itself holds together by its links and joins to no line. A household’s status is origin not found: real, documented people whose line is not known.

JUAN CARLOS LERENA and MARIA LERENA — named at Buenos Aires, 1908
origin not found · on no line
— THE TWO THIS ARCHIVE EXISTS TO FIND, and the reason the red lane is drawn broken. They are named as the parents on Pablo Armando's army enrolment card and appear in NO OTHER RECORD ANYWHERE - not in Rosario, not in Montevideo, not in the full-text corpus. Every lane above is a candidate and none has been shown to hold them. Its people are counted on the line «Rosario de Santa Fe, to the Cape», where the record puts them; what is not placed is where they came from. 0
The LARENA of Gualeguaychu — Entre Rios, 1837-1913
origin not found · on no line
Gualeguaychu, Entre Rios (1837–1913) The people in the register under the A-spelling at Gualeguaychu, in Entre Rios, the province across the Parana. THE SPELLING IS NOT THE PROBLEM - this archive has catalogued LERENA read as SERENA, LORENA, LESINA and six more. What is missing is any document joining them to a Uruguayan house. (The Larena of Cayasta, in Santa Fe, were drawn here with them until 27 October 2026; the archive's own correction says Cayasta was an Italian colony and its Larena not ours, so they are drawn with the different stock below.) 11 (6 named)
CARLOS LERENA of Mendoza — Mendoza, 1900-1904
origin not found · on no line
Mendoza (1904) Married ADELA CAMIGLIA; a son AVELINO CARLOS born 1904. The forename AVELINO is the one that runs through Sancho's house , which is suggestive and is not evidence. Worked in September and not joined. 3 (1 named)
The LERENA of Trinidad with no father named — Trinidad, Flores, 1895-1918
origin not found · on no line
Trinidad, Flores (1918–1923) CAYETANA FAUSTINA, whose son Luis was registered in 1895 with no father on the act; RODOLFO BERNARDO and ISMAEL, each a father who appears once. Real people on real acts, attached to nobody. 5 (2 named)
LERINA — Italy, arrived 1889
a different stock, kept apart
Buenos Aires — arrivals (1830–1872) Four people, arrived together in 1889 - Anna, Annunziata, Laurensa, Savina. An Italian name that is not a spelling of this one , kept in the register so that nobody has to discover them twice. (The register also holds two Italian arrivals written LERENA, Domenico in 1910 and Paolo in 1913, who are unplaced and not excluded.) 4
LERENA of Arequipa — Peru, 1797-1825
a different stock, kept apart
— Felipa, Pedro and Isidoro Lerena in the parish marriages of Chuquibamba, Condesuyos. Found while searching the full-text corpus and recorded because a rare name in a far place is exactly what a careless session would merge. 0
LERRENA — Colombia
a different stock, kept apart
— One full-text hit in the Colombian Catholic records. Not pursued and not ours. 0
The LERENA y LERENA of Navarrete — Logrono, Spain and Buenos Aires, 1900-1930
a different stock, kept apart
Buenos Aires (1876) A WHOLE HOUSEHOLD WHO CARRY THE NAME TWICE, and the most useful namesake on this page. It does not make them his - no connection is claimed, and the CEMLA arrivals suggest a steady traffic of young Riojan Lerena men into Buenos Aires shops that has nothing to do with Rosario de Santa Fe in 1882. 4 (1 named)
BENITO LERENA and MARIA CRISTINA — San Eugenio, Artigas, Uruguay, 1899
origin not found · on no line
San Eugenio, Artigas, Uruguay (1854–1899) · San Juan Bautista, Brazil (1867) · Artigas, Uruguay (1896–1907) A Lerena household on the Brazilian border, found 12 October 2026 and not on any lane. Benito, b. about 1854, Oriental, a jornalero who could not sign his name; his wife Maria Cristina, b. about 1856, Brazilian, given no surname by the act; their daughter Anastasia LERENA, b. about 1877, married to the Brazilian soldier Honorio ALVAREZ. Artigas is a department this archive has never worked, and a family of the name sitting on the Brazil frontier with Brazilian-born children is a shape nothing here predicts. Found only because a LERENA father was asked against a SERENA mother - and the act turns out to say Lerena both times. 8
PEDRO LERENA and JUANA CAMACHO — Jesus Maria and Mal Abrigo, San Jose, Uruguay, 1910
origin not found · on no line
Jesus Maria, San Jose, Uruguay (1842–1853) · Mal Abrigo, San Jose, Uruguay (1886–1910) An Italian-born Lerena in the department this archive rests an 1846 couple on. Pedro, b. about 1842 in Italy, a labrador; Juana Camacho, b. about 1853, Oriental; their daughter Ramona LERENA, b. about 1886, who registered a natural daughter Antonina at Mal Abrigo in September 1910 with the father's line left as se ignora. 4
LEANDRO LERENA and LUCIA LLANOS — Buenos Aires, 1895-1896
origin not found · on no line
Buenos Aires (1857–1896) THE HOUSEHOLD THIS ARCHIVE PUBLISHED AS A TRUE NULL, AND IT WAS NEVER ONE. 6
GIL LERENA and ANASTASIA SANTA CRUZ — Trinidad and Pintos, Flores
origin not found · on no line
Trinidad, Flores (1819–1911) · Pintos, Flores (1880–1921) A SECOND LERENA HOUSE AT TRINIDAD, AND NOT ALEJANDRO'S. 20 (13 named)
MAURICIO LERENA and PETRONA AGUILAR — La Guardia, Trinidad, 1866
origin not found · on no line
Trinidad, Flores (1866) A Mauricio Lerena with a wife Petrona Aguilar, godparents in February and March 1866 and the parents of Paula Gregoria, born 14 June 1866. He may be the Mauricio of Flores born about 1836, and he is not the Colla Mauricio, who had a wife Casimira. Not merged. 3 (1 named)
PEDRO ANTONIO LERENA and TERESA LEONARD — Montevideo, 1861-1901
origin not found · on no line
Montevideo (1819–1866) NOT THE PEDRO LERENA VEGA WHO DIED IN 1896: the 1864 christening of their daughter Manuela names his parents as Pedro and Maria Pereyra. His father could be Pedro Antonio, son of Sancho, only if that man married a second wife, Maria Pereyra, after Vicenta Vega - which nothing says. 8 (4 named)
GILBERTO LERENA, Argentine, born 1879 — landed at Buenos Aires, 1928
origin not found · on no line
Buenos Aires — arrivals (1879–1916) An Argentine-national Lerena born within three years of Pablo Armando, travelling with a son Gilberto of twelve. 2
LOLA LERENA — Isla Martin Garcia

Isla Martin Garcia (1873) Italian-born; the name is coincidental (the register's own words). 1
LARENA of Cayasta — Cayasta, Santa Fe
a different stock, kept apart
Cayasta, Garay, Santa Fe (1890–1892) RETRACTED. 3 (2 named)

How they do and do not join

Every join between two lines, or between a line and a household, that this archive has a verdict on, in its own words. Five rest on a document, two are candidates, five were tested and refused, and eleven the archive says it cannot yet decide. No two lines of the name have been shown to be one family.

Documented One family: a document joins them.

BetweenAndWhat the archive saysWhere
Rosario de Santa Fe, to the Cape Devon to the Cape: the Taylor line, by marriage Pablo Armando Lerena married Mary Septima Taylor at St Dominic's, Wynberg, on 3 September 1911: entry 160 of the duplicate original register. The Taylor line is drawn as a lane of its own because this archive keeps it as one; the two meet at that act, and their children are counted on the direct line. read it →
The house of Luis Lerena and Justiniana Lenguas Out of Canelones, into Montevideo Three acts name Luis Lerena's parents as Sancho and Maria Fernandez: his own baptism of 10 February 1811, his second marriage of 3 March 1842 and his son Alberto Octavio's baptism of 7 October 1850. So the Lerena Lenguas household, Gilberto of the Argentine Stud Book among them, is Sancho's grandchildren. (The register's own link from Luis to Sancho is still marked as resting on a tree, and his row still says 'probably'.) read it →
The Lerena Larriera of San Jose Out of Canelones, into Montevideo Set aside as 'not ours' on 14 September 2026 and retracted on 21 September: Alberto Lerena's Montevideo death registration of 2 March 1921, read at the image, names his parents as Avelino Lerena and Ambrosia Traibel. The nine children of Alberto and Maria Ines Larriera are great-grandchildren of Sancho. A refusal the archive itself withdrew. read it →
The Trinidad kindred, Alejandro's house Out of Rosario del Colla, into Trinidad The Trinidad expedientes of 1855 and 1858 name Alejandro Lerena and Margarita Fernandez as the parents of Socorro and Bernabe, and Ramon Lerena and Maria Gonzalez as their grandparents; Alejandro's own marriage of 16 September 1825, read at the plate, calls him the son of Ramon Lerena and Maria Josefa Gonzalez. Ramon of Rosario-Colla is Ramon of the Trinidad diagram. read it →
The house of Cipriano Lerena and Lauriana Beloqui Out of Rosario del Colla, into Trinidad Held apart from the Colla house until 9 October 2026. The Flores birth act of his daughter Carmen Donata, 2 March 1895, has him name his wife and both his parents, Mauricio and Casimira Montano: so the Beloqui children are grandchildren of Mauricio of Colla. (The register does not yet draw his link to Mauricio; the line counts him by this act.) read it →

Candidate Proposed on evidence short of a document; drawn as a dotted bridge.

BetweenAndWhat the archive saysWhere
Out of Canelones, into Montevideo Rosario de Santa Fe, to the Cape Hypothesis 1c, that the family came from Uruguay, not Argentina. For it: the Rosario baptism index, read end to end for 1731-1901, holds one Lerena, and he is a Lerena Lenguas of this house; and in the army drawer Cajon 985 every traceable father of a Lerena card is a Uruguayan family's son. Against it: no link has been shown between Luis Lerena Lenguas and Juan Carlos Lerena, and Juan Carlos is in none of the household's children. The story draws the break at Sancho's grandchildren and leaves it open. read it →
GILBERTO LERENA, Argentine, born 1879 — landed at Buenos Aires, 1928 Out of Canelones, into Montevideo An Argentine Gilberto Lerena, born 1879, landed at Buenos Aires in 1928 with a son Gilberto of twelve. What fits Gilberto Lerena Salvanach, the Stud Book Gilberto's eldest son: a birth year one out, Argentine nationality, Buenos Aires, a marriage of 1906. Arturo Lerena Garcia: Spain, Chile, Entre Rios Out of Canelones, into Montevideo On 13 September 2026 an Arturo Lerena born at Montevideo in 1858, son of Avelino Lerena and Ambrosia Traibel, was run together with the Arturo Lerena of the army drawer. That was two men: the Uruguayan record gives that Arturo's wife as Ema Regules, and the Arturo of the drawer married Amalia Diaz and had children in La Pampa, Mendoza and Entre Rios. The row was withdrawn the same evening. read it →
Juan Carlos Gonzalez Lerena (married 1922) Rosario de Santa Fe, to the Cape The only 'Juan Carlos Lerena' in FamilySearch's full text besides a 2001 death, checked and excluded on 15 September 2026: Lerena is his second surname, his mother's, and he married in 1922. Pablo Armando's father must carry Lerena as his father's name and have been born by about the 1850s. He stands on Ramon's line, by his mother. read it →
LERINA — Italy, arrived 1889 Rosario de Santa Fe, to the Cape Hypothesis 1b, that the family was Italian and the name nearer LERINA: the four LERINA arrivals of 1889 remain excluded, on their dates and not on a judgement about the surname. Mauricio Lerena of Flores (born about 1836) Out of Rosario del Colla, into Trinidad He is not the man who married at San Jose in 1837: fifty in 1886 is a birth about 1836, and the other Mauricio married in February 1837. Whether he is that man's son is carried, not resolved. read it →

How every person in the register is placed

The register holds 998 people. 489 stand on a line and 509 are in the four pens under the rule; nobody is in two places and nobody is left out. 534 may be named, and are; the rest are counted and not named. The rule is the one tools/build-lines.py applies, in the same words:

  1. Kin are the register's own links: father, mother, child, spouse, brother and sister. A link that rests only on a family tree is not followed, and a godparent, a witness, an official or a neighbour is not kin.
  2. Following those links splits the register into family groups. A line holds every group that contains one of its seeds: a person on one of its dated stops, or a person the archive puts on it by an act it quotes (data/people-lines.tsv).
  3. A group that holds the seeds of two lines is a join. It is allowed only where the archive records that join as documented, as it does for the direct line and the Taylor line, joined by the marriage of 1911; each person then goes to the line of the nearest seed, counted in links.
  4. A group on no line is a household not yet placed. Where a household the archive has written up names one of its people, it is that household; otherwise it is counted as a household of its own when it holds two people or more and one of them carries the name.
  5. Anyone on no line and in no household is counted in one of two pens: people of the name with no family recorded here, or people in the acts who are not of the name and are kin to nobody here.
  6. Everybody is counted, and nobody is counted twice. A person is listed by name only when their page publishes a birth year before the living line or a death, and no rule of this archive holds them as living or out of publication; everybody else is a number only.

Counted, not named: a person whose page prints no birth year and no death, a person born on or after the living line with no death, and anybody this archive holds as living or out of publication. On a line, the names are the people on its dated stops and the people placed on it who may be named. The people of each line and pen are listed under the drawing.

What would move a household onto a line is a document that names its parents, or an act that ties it to a household already drawn; what would move a person out of the pen of the name alone is one recorded parent, child, spouse, brother or sister.
