Maria LERENA (m. FERNANDEZ, d. 1892 Trinidad)

A DAUGHTER OF ALEJANDRO LERENA AND MARGARITA FERNANDEZ, NEW TO THIS ARCHIVE, 17 October 2026. Her civil death act at Trinidad, read at the plate: 'Maria Lerena de Fernandez, de nacionalidad oriental, de sesenta y cuatro anos de edad, de estado viuda, ... a consecuencia de Cancer del estomago ... Que la finada era hija legitima de don Alejandro Lerena y dona Margarita Fernandez, ambos fallecidos', died at two in the morning, declared by 'Manuel Vaquero' [the signature may read Vazquez], thirty, and Francisco C[...], thirty-one, both procuradores of Trinidad, with a closing line that the first declarant makes it 'como pa[riente]' - cut at the page edge, so read as 'relative' and not as certain. SIXTY-FOUR ON 3 MAY 1892 IS A BIRTH BETWEEN 4 MAY 1827 AND 3 MAY 1828, which makes her the eldest of the five known children, born before Alejandro (23 February 1829). HER HUSBAND IS NOT NAMED, only 'de Fernandez' in her name - the Trinidad kindred married into Fernandez families more than once, and nothing here says which. THE INDEX GIVES TRINIDAD AS HER BIRTHPLACE while the family is at San Jose in 1825 and 1829; that is probably where she died, and is unresolved.
