What is known

A DAUGHTER OF A PEDRO A. LERENA AND TRINIDAD MORALES, READ AT THE PLATE, 18 October 2026. 'En ocho de Febrero de 1863. Yo el Cura Vicario bautize solemnemente a Amelia, nacida el dos de Mayo ultimo, hija legitima de D. [Pedro] A. Lerena y de Da. Trinidad Morales, orientales. Padrinos D. Maximo Rivas y Da. Amelia Lerena. De que certifico. Jose M. Ojeda' The index and the machine transcript read the godmother as 'Amelia Serena'; the plate reads LERENA, so a Lerena woman of that name stood at the font. BORN 2 MAY 1862 AND BAPTISED NINE MONTHS LATER. Her father is the Pedro A. of the next row, whose identity is open; nothing else is known of her. A CANDIDATE FOR THE NINE-YEAR-OLD AMELIA LERENA OF THE CORDON DEATH BOOK, 18 October 2026: the register's other Amelia (entry 619 of that book, 1871, signed by the same cura Ojeda) is a girl of nine, which a child born in spring 1862 would be in the autumn of 1871, in the same parish. The death entry names no parents, so it is a fit and NOT a merge - and NOTHING HERE SAYS THIS AMELIA DIED.
