Generation 1 of the direct line

Pablo Armando LERENA (Robert Paul; "Bob")

Generation 1. David's great-grandfather. PLACE FIELD CORRECTED 14 September 2026. This row's 'where found' held a CITATION - "SA + Argentine records" - where the atlas expects a PLACE, so this person was missing from the map and appeared on it as a phantom location instead. The citation is kept here; the field now holds a real place. WHERE HE IS BURIED IS SETTLED, 8 October 2026. Entry 327 of the Maitland Road Cemetery Record of Interments, page 339: LERENA, Robert Paul, M.E., aged 76, late residence Newlands, 7 Forth Road - the address on his death certificate - Roman Catholic allotment, Cemetery No. 1, grave 7719 C, depth 8 feet, position Bott, officiating Father Plotton, undertaker Goodall & Wms. The last column reads 'In Plot of R. P. Lerina'. SO THE PLOT WAS HIS. Not a space allotted at need: a grave held in his own name, which his wife had been buried in fifteen years before him and an infant three years before him. AND THE WHOLE GRAVE WAS READ ON 8 OCTOBER 2026. Maitland (Woltemade) Road Cemetery, Cemetery No. 1, Roman Catholic allotment, GRAVE 7719 - and the register calls it 'In Plot of R. P. Lerina', his own plot. Three burials, in order: 7719 A Mary Septima, 51, buried 16 Nov 1935 (p.3215 entry 163); 7719 B Careen Maria, two weeks old, died 27 June 1947 (p.4706 entry 423); 7719 C Robert Paul himself, 76, died 19 March 1950 (p.339 entry 327). THE DEATH CERTIFICATE SAID MAITLAND AND THE FAMILY SAID NEWLANDS, and the certificate was right - 'intended place of burial' turned out to be the actual one. AND IT WAS INDEXED AS 'ROBERT PAUL LESINA', which is why no search for LERENA had ever found it. That is the seventh machine misreading of this surname this archive has documented. IT WAS FOUND BY NOT SEARCHING FOR THE SURNAME AT ALL: given name 'Robert Paul', death year 1950, collection only - 663 results, and he was the first.
