Places
The same register, arranged by geography rather than by name. It is the quickest way to see where this family's evidence actually clusters — and where it does not.
What the geography says
Read down this list and the shape of the problem appears. The surname clusters in the River Plate — Buenos Aires, Montevideo, and a small inland town in Uruguay called Trinidad, where six men of the name fathered children in the 1870s. That is very probably the founding kindred.
And Rosario, the one place the family itself names, is thin. Everything found there is either twentieth century or a lodger in a tenement. The place we were told to look is the place with least in it.
