The baptism (machine transcript, March 1844): 'bautice solemnemente a Eugenio que nacio el 26 de este [the month is lost; February, by the burial below] ... de Alejandro Herena y Margarita Fernandez de S. Jose y vecinos de este Pueblo. Madrina Mariquita Elerena', the cura Tomas Cullen. THE BURIAL, 3 MARCH 1844 (Trinidad Religious Death Records, ark 3:1:3Q9M-CS27-23WL-4): 'se sepulto con oficio rezado a Eugenio del[..] dias, hijo legitimo de Don Alejandro Herena y Dona Margarita Fernandez de esta vecindad'. So he was born on 26 February 1844 and died on 3 March 1844, a few days old; the first reading of the baptism as 'born 26 March' was wrong and is superseded. The family was living at Trinidad in 1844. He is not one of the nine children of the petition of 1853 (he was dead nine years): the 'eighth of nine' count of the first version is withdrawn. The sex is the name's: Eugenio.
