Nuno Fernando LERENA
Son. David's grandfather. PLACE FIELD CORRECTED 14 September 2026. This row's 'where found' held a CITATION - "SA records" - where the atlas expects a PLACE, so this person was missing from the map and appeared on it as a phantom location instead. The citation is kept here; the field now holds a real place. AND HE WAS AT SCHOOL AT RONDEBOSCH IN 1936, established 8 October 2026. Three printed Testimonials of Application and Diligence from MARIST BROTHERS, ST JOSEPH'S COLLEGE, BELMONT PARK, RONDEBOSCH, each made out to Master N. Lerena and signed by the Principal, Bro. Vital: 1 June 1936 (608 good marks against an opponent's 578, form's highest 690), 1 October 1936 (458 against 415, highest 523) and 1 November 1936 (715 against 708, highest 1045). HE IS THE ONLY N. LERENA OF SCHOOL AGE IN THIS FAMILY - born 6 October 1924, so eleven turning twelve across the three. WHAT THEY ADD: the first evidence of any Lerena's schooling; the family placed at Rondebosch in the twelve months after his mother died at Observatory in November 1935; and a Roman Catholic education, which sits beside the Corpus Christi baptisms and the Roman Catholic allotment of grave 7719. AND EVERY FIGURE WAS CONFIRMED when David put the scans in the archive later the same day: the 608 of June and the 715 of November, the two digits this archive had flagged as least certain, both held. The certificates are published on /family-papers/. AND HE IS IN A SOUTH AFRICAN LAND RECORD, found 9 October 2026 - the first this archive has found for anybody in this family. The transcript reads '... Cologne Road . Description of Property ... No. 245 ... Sq. Roods 6,600 Sq. Feet . Huno Fernando Lerena 6. 10. 1924 . Purchase Amount'. 'Huno' IS THE TRANSCRIBER'S NUNO, and 6.10.1924 IS HIS BIRTH DATE TO THE DAY, which is what identifies the entry as his. WHAT IT DOES NOT YET GIVE: the town. Cologne Road, lot 245, 6,600 square feet and a transferor read as 'Gough Cooper' are all the transcript offers, and the plate has not been opened. NOTE WHAT THIS DOES AND DOES NOT OVERTURN: /south-africa/ says a search of the deeds registers returns no land at all - that was said of PABLO ARMANDO, is still true of him, and was never tested on his sons. A SECOND PROPERTY, 9 October 2026, read off the plate. Beside lot 245 in Cologne Road (6,600 sq ft) he holds 'No. 210 ... 14,560 Sq. Feet ... Transferor: T/SHIP OWNERS ... Transferee: NUNO FERNANDO LERENA. 6.10.24', under a street written LENDIN - SO WRITTEN, AND NOT RESOLVED; THIS ROW READ IT 'LONDON' FOR AN HOUR AND THAT IS WITHDRAWN - transfer 2257(7) dated 22 August 1953. BOUGHT FROM THE TOWNSHIP OWNERS, which is how a new township sells its first stands. THE TRANSCRIBERS CALLED HIM 'HUNO' ON ONE FOLIO AND 'JAN FERNANDO' ON THE OTHER; THE CLERK WROTE NUNO BOTH TIMES, PLAINLY. AND THE DATE BESIDE HIS NAME IS AN IDENTITY DATE, NOT A TRANSFER DATE: this folio carries the transfer date in its own column (22.8.53), so 6.10.24 is his birth date - which the 1950 estate and death notice 6746/71 held before either land record was found. AND THE TOWNSHIP IS PLACED, FROM THIS ARCHIVE'S OWN FILES: his death notice MHG 6746/71, read 16 September 2026, gives his residence as '24 LEIDEN ROAD, GERDVIEW, GERMISTON', and COLOGNE ROAD IS A STREET IN GERDVIEW. SO HE BOUGHT TWO STANDS IN THE TOWNSHIP HE LIVED AND DIED IN, whose streets are named for Dutch and German cities - Leiden, Weert, Cologne. AND THAT SCHEME IS WHAT EXPOSED THE MISREADING: 'London' did not belong to it. HIS DEATH NOTICE ALSO NAMES NO PARENTS: father and mother are both blank, marked only 'Deceased' - so the one document of his that could have named PABLO ARMANDO does not.
