Ema REGULES (wife of Arturo LERENA)

Named on her son Eduardo's marriage act of 11 January 1920: 'y de EMA REGULES, de nacionalidad ORIENTAL, de estado CASADA, de CINCUENTA Y CINCO anos' - so born about 1864-65, alive and married in 1920. The transcript renders her surname 'Ema Re gales' with a broken word; REGULES is a known Uruguayan surname and the reading is not plate-confirmed. AND SHE IS A CANDIDATE FOR SOMETHING FOUND EARLIER THE SAME DAY: an 'Ema. Lerena' stood godmother at the Cordon between 1900 and 1902 beside an EDUARDO LERENA. A married woman is written under her husband's name in a parish book, and Ema Regules would have been about thirty-six, with a son Eduardo aged fourteen to sixteen. THAT IS A CANDIDACY AND NOT A FINDING: a boy of fourteen is young for a godfather, the Cordon act gives no ages, and this register already holds two other women called Ema Lerena. See data/_person-pairs.txt. HER PARENTS AND HER WEDDING, 11 October 2026. She married Dr Arturo Lerena at the Catedral de Montevideo on 23 June 1880, aged SIXTEEN, 'hija legitima de DON WENCESLAO REGULES y DONA JUSTINIANA MELILLA' - so born about 1863-64, which agrees with the fifty-five years her son's act gives her in 1920. HER MOTHER STOOD AS A WITNESS AT HER OWN DAUGHTER'S WEDDING, written there as 'Dona Justiniana Melilla de Regules'. SIXTEEN IS YOUNG AND THE BANNS WERE DISPENSED BY THE BISHOP HIMSELF, which this archive notes without drawing a conclusion: a dispensation of the three proclamas is about publication, not about kinship, and no impediment of blood is recorded. The act spells her EMMA; her son's act of 1920 spells her EMA. ALIVE AND MARRIED IN AUGUST 1909, at calle Colonia 228, Montevideo, when her daughter EMMA LERENA REGULES married: 'y de EMMA REGULES de estado CASADA de profesion LABORES de nacionalidad oriental'. HER DAUGHTER CARRIES HER NAME. A WIDOW FROM 2 MARCH 1936, when her husband died at Treinta y Tres 269, Montevideo. The act records 'el finado era casado con [E]MA REGULES, de cuyo consorcio quedaron CINCO HIJOS' - so she outlived him, or at least was not recorded as dead, which is not the same thing and is all the act says.
