The Lerena Archive
What your browser loads, and who sees it

Privacy

No account, no form and no advertising. What is counted, and what a reader's browser fetches from other sites.

Last checked 3 November 2026.

This page covers The Lerena Archive only. There is no account, no sign-in and nothing to fill in: what you type in the search box, which layers you switch on and which year you set stay in your browser (in the address bar, or remembered on your own device) and are never sent anywhere. There are no advertisements.

The count at the foot of each page

The “times read” number comes from GoatCounter, a counter that sets no cookies and does not follow you from one site to another. It records that a page was read, which page, roughly the kind of browser and the country — not who you are. This archive’s count is its own: thelerena.

What your browser fetches from elsewhere

  • Fonts from Google Fonts. Google sees your IP address and which fonts were asked for.
  • The map pages load Leaflet, the mapping library, from the Cloudflare CDN, and map tiles from Esri (the default map with its place names, and the satellite view) or OpenTopoMap (the terrain view), depending on which base is showing. Those services see your IP address and which tiles you asked for, as any map on the web does. Only the map pages do this.
  • GitHub Pages serves the site and keeps standard server logs.

Following a link to another site (FamilySearch, a national archive, a newspaper) takes you to that site, under its terms and not these.
