Baptised at the Matriz (the cathedral) of Montevideo on 15 September 1821 by Juan Ciriaco Otaegui, teniente de cura, 'Luis Manuel, que nacio el dia veinte y cinco proximo pasado' (born 25 August 1821), legitimate son of 'Ramon Lerena, natural de Castilla la Vieja, y de Maria Gonzalez, natural de Lanzarote en Canarias'; paternal grandparents Salvador and Ana Cubas, maternal Marcial and Isabel Chaquea; godparents 'el Ilmo. presbitero [the title and the given name read from the hand with some doubt] Manuel Marquez y Clara Lerena'.

    The parents are those of Eusebio Congenio (1816) and of the other children of Ramon Lerena and Maria Josefa Gonzalez: the same paternal grandparents (Salvador Lerena and Ana de Cubas) and the same mother, from Lanzarote; the act does not write 'Josefa' or 'de Leon', and the 1816 act gives Ramon as 'natural de Madrid' where this one says Castilla la Vieja (both are the declarant's words, not reconciled). The godmother Clara Lerena may be the Clara Lerena of the San Jose baptism of 1828 (wife of Francisco Fernandez Alvarez), who is a sister of Alejandro the elder: the act does not say how she was related, and nothing joins them here. NOT KNOWN: his later life and death.
