Malvino PELAEZ (son of Juan PELAEZ and Antonina LERENA)

A BROTHER OF CASIMIRA PELAEZ AND OF MARIA PELAEZ. The Flores death act of his son gives him as 'Don MALBINO PELAEZ, oriental, de SESENTA Y SIETE anos de edad, hacendado', and names his parents as Don JUAN PELAEZ y Dona ANTONINA LERENA. AND HE MARRIED A LERENA HIMSELF: the same act gives the boy's maternal grandparents as ALEJANDRO LERENA and ISIDORA CHOURINO, so his wife is a daughter of Alejandro the younger. A PELAEZ WHOSE MOTHER WAS A LERENA MARRYING A LERENA - the Trinidad pattern exactly. AND HE IS THE MALVINO PELAEZ WHO STOOD PROXY GODFATHER BESIDE EDUVIGES PELAEZ AT TRINIDAD ON 1 APRIL 1894. NO BIRTH YEAR IS ENTERED, AND THAT IS DELIBERATE. He is sixty-seven on an act whose own date was not read - only the book's range of 1888-1917 - and an age without a date is not a birth year. Subtracting from a guessed date is exactly what this archive did to William John Taylor and to seven Montevideo women on 8 October. THE FIX IS CHEAP: read the act's date. HIS FULL NAME IS MALBINO HIPOLITO, AND HIS WIFE HAS A NAME NOW, 10 October 2026. His mother's death act of 1911 lists him among her four surviving children as MALBINO HIPOLITO; the Trinidad confirmation register of the 1890s writes him BALBINO PELAEZ, married to ALEJANDRINA LERENA. ONE MAN IN THREE FORMS - MALBINO, MALVINO, BALBINO - and the Don Balbino Pelaez who witnessed Maria Pelaez's wedding in 1880 is him. FOUR CHILDREN NOW: LUIS and AURORA from the confirmations, ANTONIO EUSEBIO from his death act, and JUAN PEDRO, who declared both his mother's death in 1926 and his grandmother's in 1911.
