Florencio SERENA (of Cerro Largo, d. before 1938)
THE FOURTH OF THE FOUR, AND IT IS THE WEAKEST KIND OF SURVIVAL: NOT DISPROVED, NOT PROVED. His daughter's marriage act of 4 January 1938 names him 'FLORENCIO SERENA... DE ESTADO FALLECIDO' and her mother 'TERESA SERENA... DE ESTADO VIUDA'. '...y dona VICTORINA SERENA, de nacionalidad ORIENTAL, nacida el dia SEIS de MARZO de mil novecientos OCHO, en el Depto. de CERRO LARGO, de profesion LABORES, domiciliada en Esperanza 787, HIJA DE FLORENCIO SERENA, de nacionalidad oriental, DE ESTADO FALLECIDO... Y DE TERESA SERENA, de nacionalidad oriental, DE ESTADO VIUDA, de profesion labores, domiciliada en el Dpto. de CERRO LARGO.' SO BOTH PARENTS CARRY ONE SURNAME ON THE ACT - BUT SHE IS A WIDOW, and a widow is routinely written under her late husband's name. Whether Teresa was BORN a Serena is NOT ESTABLISHED, exactly as with Sabina Serena of the 1865 act. HE IS NOT THE FLORENCIO LERENA OF TRINIDAD, and that question is now closed: this family is of CERRO LARGO, four departments away, and his daughter was born there in 1908. The Trinidad Florencio married DONA JUANA RECUERO. THE PAIR ENTRY SAYING 'THREE READINGS ARE OPEN' IS SUPERSEDED BY A PLACE.
