Dr LLERENA (curador, Buenos Aires courts 1889)

A LERENA PRACTISING IN THE BUENOS AIRES COURTS, AND HE IS NOT THE WORD 'HERENCIA'. This archive's worklist carried him as a one-line snippet with a warning attached, because in that corpus lerena is very often the transcriber's reading of herencia. He is real. SO: A LAWYER APPOINTED CURADOR OF AN ESTATE, AND THE FISCAL IS COMPLAINING THAT THE COURT APPOINTED HIM WITHOUT ASKING THE MINISTRY OR THE SPANISH CONSUL. The consul's interest means the deceased was most likely a Spanish subject. THE SAME PASSAGE SPELLS HIM BOTH LERENA AND LLERENA, twice each, in one hand - which is the single clearest demonstration in this register that the two spellings are one name. AND HE IS NOT A PHYSICIAN. 'Doctor' before a curador is the style of an ABOGADO, the same lesson this archive learned about Arturo Lerena of Montevideo earlier the same day. A 'DOCTOR LERENA' RECURS IN THIS COURT ACROSS A DECADE - the Regidor probate of 1890, Villaverde-Duportal 1894 and Foz 1897 all carry the phrase and NONE OF THEM HAS BEEN OPENED. NOT MERGED WITH CARLOS A. LERENA, the commission agent who sued the Escalada estate in the same courts in February 1890: one is a party suing, the other an officer of the court, and nothing joins them but a surname and a city.
